Yellowstone National Park

Finally getting you up to date with our antics, here's a few pics from our stint at Yellowstone. It was very lush and green so very different from other parts of the road trip so far. There is a lot of thermal activity here so we saw a lot of Geysers and caught Old Faithful Geyser going off, jetting about 100ft in the air. The whole place is like a big safari where everyone s looking out for a big wildlife moment. We managed to get up close to a lot of Bison and deer, saw an Osprey and her chicks on a ledge and saw a bald headed eagle which was pretty cool. The danger of bears and bison is very real and they drum it into you with several signs and loads of info about how to cope with bears and prevent an attack. We didn't see one unfortunately, although there were moments when I just hoped we wouldn't. You're only allowed to sleep in the designated expensive campgrounds inside the park, but you can wilderness camp at a couple just on the outskirts. As we drove into the camp that night there was a sign saying High Frequency Bear Sightings and to take all precautions when camping: we decided to sleep in the car...! Just running to the boot I was terrified.

We're back in Salt Lake City now and tomorrow we're going to visit the Bonneville Flats on our way over to San Fransisco which should take a few days. Hopefully we'll get back online sometime then.
